  • Columbus Blue Jackets: Boone Jenner had surgery on his broken hand and is expected to be out for five weeks.
  • Ryan Rishaug: Oilers David Perron left last night’s game with a rib injury.
  • Farhan Lalji: Canucks Frank Corrado will be out for a few more days.
  • Joe Smith: Lightning’s Brenden Morrow missed practice again yesterday with a stiff back.
  • Andrew Gross: Rangers Matthew Lombardi (groin) received some “positive feedback” and is hopeful that he can play either Friday and/or Saturday.
  • Ken Wiebe: Jets coach Paul Maurice said that if Dustin Byfuglien couldn’t play in Saturday’s game, it would be hard to give him big minutes with Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little next week.
  • Michael Russo: Wild’s Justin Fontaine will be out a few weeks with a lower-body injury.
  • Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs Cody Franson has no structural damage done to his left knee. Waiting for swelling to go down.
  • Rob Mixer: Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said that Ryan Murray wouldn’t need to get into an exhibition game to be deemed ready for their season opener next week.
  • Ansar Khan of MLive:  Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson should be over his hip flexor in the next few days, but his finger issue may take another year to fully recover. Ericsson doesn’t know if he’ll play in either of their two exhibition games this weekend, but thinks he’ll be ready for their season opener. He broke is middle finger and partially torn the tendon last March after being hit by a puck.

“I’m not going to be able to use that finger that I broke as good as maybe I want to, but your body adapts pretty well, like letting other fingers kind of contribute more,” Ericsson said. “They say up to 18 months for it to maybe come back. It’s not going to be as good as it was.”
