- Craig Morgan of Fox Sports Arizona: Coyotes Mikkel Boedker filed for salary arbitration yesterday, with Coyotes having the option to select either one- or two-years. Agent Jarrett Bousquet and GM Don Maloney have been having contract talks for about three months.
“When two sides can’t agree on something, there is a certain date by which you have to have a contract finished before you weigh other options,” Bousquet said. “There have been a lot of changes in the Coyotes organization and this gives both sides some freedom to wait a little longer while we figure things out.
“We can still talk, but at this point we’re looking to see if we can get a one-year deal done to avoid letting the system take care of it.”
- Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post Dispatch: Blues forward Magnus Paajarvi filed for arbitration yesterday. There are reports saying that he wants a one-way deal or he could return to Sweden.
- Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: (chat) Think that the Stars would like to add big, solid, two-way defenseman. Players they could trade include Trevor Daley, Jamie Oleksiak and/or Jyrki Jokipakka. Can see them not making a move and starting the season with the eight defenseman they currently have under contract.
- David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: It’s looking like the Oilers will be finished making big moves unless they move out some salary.
- Sportsnet: Arbitration deadline is 5:00 pm today. Players who have already file for arbitration yesterday.
