On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
Joe Smith: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said that his deal with Vegas involving them selecting Jason Garrison and protecting roster players was done last week.
Bryan Burns: Yzerman on their moves: “It gives us cap space to do some things. I can’t guarantee what will get done, but it gives us cap space to do that.”
Joe Smith: Yzerman said that he’s “very interested” and is hopeful they will be able to re-sign unrestricted free agent Yanni Gourde.
On the San Jose Sharks …
Kevin Kurz: There were no side deals between the Sharks and Vegas, with Vegas selecting David Schlemko.
Pierre LeBrun: Wouldn’t be a surprise if Vegas looked to flip defenseman David Schlemko in the next few days.
On the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders and Colorado Avalanche …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 1040 yesterday morning. LeBrun hasn’t heard anything new regarding Chris Tanev trade rumors. Most teams have been concentrating on Vegas deals and the expansion draft and have put other things on hold. That will change real soon.
“I think a lot of deals have been put on hold because teams wanted to wait until after the expansion draft to put the finishing touches on them. They didn’t want to add to their protected list issues last week.
“So whether the Islanders, for example, whether they decide to go ahead on the Jordan Eberle front – I think that’s a possibility, we’ll see. We believe that they’ve also talked to Colorado about Matt Duchene. I don’t know if there’s a fit there.
“But there are lots of different parts here that have nothing to do with Vegas that have sort of been put on hold and now can be unleashed here over the next few days. So I’m looking forward to that.”
