Pierre LeBrun: Hearing that the meeting between the Carolina Hurricanes and Elias Lindholm‘s reps didn’t go well today. The sides are still far apart on a deal, and a trade is a possibility.
Amir Basu: Pierre McGuire said that Jeff Skinner trade to a team in the West is close. McGuire adds that the Hurricanes expect that they could have three first round picks – Skinner and Noah Hanifin trades.
Mike Kelly: Jeff Skinner may not be the only forward the Hurricanes trade today.

Darren Dreger: Kovalchuk’s agent JP Barry has met with the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, and Vegas Golden Knights. Teams are wanting to know, but there is no timetable on a decision.
Jimmy Murphy: Have been told that the Bruins are not interested in offering Kovalchuk more than two years. They haven’t made him an offer, but if they do, it won’t more than two years.

Chris Nichols of FRS Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 wonders if the Senators would take a run at defenseman Michael Stone to make Mark Stone a little happier in Ottawa.
“I do think that Ottawa wants to sign Mark Stone. I don’t think they want to trade him. I think they’re going to make him a pretty big offer, I would assume. I don’t necessarily think you want this hanging over your team if he’s a year away from unrestricted free agency, you’ve got to have it one way or the other.
“I’m just curious to see it. It might be just throwing stuff at the wall, but it makes a lot of sense.”
