Oilers looking at Zuccarello and Dzingel

David Pagnotta: The Edmonton Oilers had been looking to acquire a forward and have inquired about New York Rangers Mats Zuccarello and Ottawa Senators Ryan Dzingel, among others.

Avs might be a fit for Dzingel

AJ Haefele: Senators Ryan Dzingel would be a nice, easy fit for the Colorado Avalanche. He can play all three forward positions.

AJ Haefele: It might cost the Avs the Senators 3rd round pick for Dzingel, may be the Avs 2nd round pick. Anything more than that may be too much for the Avs for a depth, rental player. Even giving up a 2nd or 3rd may be too much for .

Scouting the Ottawa Senators and Arizona Coyotes

Dean Brown: There were 10 scouts from 10 different teams watching the Senators and Coyotes.

Contract extension talks between the Senators and the reps for Duchene and Stone continue

TSN: The Ottawa Senators and Matt Duchene‘s agent Pat Brisson met last week and plan on talking again this week.

“They met last week in Los Angeles, they talked about general parameters, they talked about an eight-year maximum extension, they talked about ballpark money, anywhere from just over $8M annual average salary to north of $9M.

The most important part of this back and forth between Ottawa and the Duchene camp is the timing. Obviously Ottawa needs to know by, I would say maybe the 10th of February, the latest the 15th, to give both sides ample opportunity to explore what the next move might be, and clearly that would be trade.”

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The trade deadline draws closer, focus will get even more intense with regards to pending free agents Mark Stone and Matt Duchene.

Senators GM Pierre Dorion will be a the top prospects game tonight and then scouting overseas.

Talks with the reps for Stone and Duchene have picked up over the last week or so.

An eight-year deal for Stone could come together quickly if they can agree on the structure.

The Senators would like to keep Duchene as well and the sides of talked about an eight-year, $64 million deal.

If the Senators feel they can’t get either Stone and/or Duchene sighed before the deadline, trade talk involving them will pick up quickly.
