Is There a Market for Goalies
Anthony Di Marco of the Daily Faceoff joined TSN Radio in Montreal on Monday and was asked about the goalie market and if there is one this trade season.

Host: “And just before we let you go, this city is getting up in arms a little bit with some of the goaltending over the last few weeks. And (Jacob) Fowler going back, and then, we get the text Anthony, you know what it’s like. You’ve got to trade for a goaltender.
We’ve saw the goaltending market what it was earlier this year with the (Tristan) Jarry and (Stuart) Skinner trade. At this point, is there a goaltenders market for anybody out there that could come in anywhere, like I just don’t see it in the National Hockey League.”
Anthony Di Marco “No, I don’t. And it was funny, I was talking to someone with the Philadelphia Flyers earlier today, and they arguably have the worst goalie in the NHL over the last 15 months, with Samuel Ersson. But to your point, Sean, I just don’t think that there are better options out there on the market that justify paying the return price.
And look, I think one interesting name or one, it would be Dennis Hildeby with the Toronto Maple Leafs, because the Leafs, we spoke about it briefly before finally starting to right that ship a bit. But all of a sudden, they have three goaltenders. Anthony Stolarz, right, just fresh back from injury, hasn’t even had his new contract kick in at four years, starting next season. Joseph Woll, obviously, I guess theoretically, the goalie of the future. And Dennis Hildeby has actually quietly had, like, a really nice season.

So I mean, I think that’s a guy that Toronto could look to use as trade currency, because they don’t have a lot of assets. And then obviously there’s the three-headed goaltending problem in Buffalo with UPL (Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen) and Colten Ellis. So I think Alex Lyon and Dennis Hildeby are the only guys that I could think of as decent backup options for teams looking for it, and guys who could be expendable.”
