On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James: Coach Jeff Blashill said defenseman Alexey Marchenko has the same shoulder injury as he had before and is day-to-day.

On the New York Islanders …

Andy Graziano: Forward Casey Cizikas returned to the game last night with his left wrist heavily taped: ‘doc did a great job,it takes more than that to keep me out of a game.’

On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov: Forward Jonathan Huberdeau is traveling with the team on their road trip for the first time this season.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Mike Morreale: Coach John Hynes on Pavel Zacha and his facial laceration: “He’s cleared to play. He’ll practice again  and we’ll see where he’s at”

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith: Forward Ryan Callahan is traveling with the team. He’s missed the past six games with a lower-body injury.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Chris Johnston: Defenseman Martin Marincin is “out for a bit” according to Mike Babcock.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Adam Kimelman: Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere on his hand injury and status for today.

“It’s good right now. I think I’m playing out there, I’ll be effective and be good to go. … I’m ready to go.”

On the Ottawa Senators …

Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen: Senators forward Clarke MacArthur has to undergo a “neuro-psych” exam before he’s allowed to return from his concussion.

“It’s like a full-body (test), where you are doing physical tests, not just a pen and paper (concussion test). I will be active, wearing the workout gear. They will be judging reaction time, testing certain things. That will give me a full-body baseline, instead of just a ‘neuro’ baseline.”

MacArthur is attempting to comeback from his fourth concussion in 18 months.

On the New York Rangers …

Steve Zipay of Newsday: Coach Alain Vigneault said that Rick Nash is “very, very close” to returning and is expected to travel with the team on their two-game road trip. Nash tweaked his groin last week. He skated by himself on Sunday and wore a no-contract jersey at yesterday’s morning skate. He will have to go through a full practice before getting clearance to return.

Matt Puempel practiced for the first time since suffering a concussoin on December 6th.
