Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: Avalanche rookie and potential Calder winner, Matt Duchense, sustained a ‘torso injury’ in the 5-2 loss to the Blackhawks. Duchense went to the hospital for further evaluation.
Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: There is the possibility that the Oilers will buy out Ethan Moreau after the season. Moreau will be 35 at training camp next fall, and has one your left at $2 million. They will continue to try and trade him, but a buyout may be the last resort.
