Injuries: Flyers, Devils, Blues, Kings, Capitals and Red Wings

Jeff Neiberg of the Philadelphia Daily News: On the Flyers …

  • R.J. Umberger is out with an upper-body injury and is day-to-day.

Tom Gulitti of The Record: On the Devils …

  • John Moore’s x-ray of his forearm revealed “just a bone bruise.”

“I’m going to show up and go through a game day like I normally would and if anything comes up I’d go with it, but I’m fully expecting to (play),” he said.

  • Patrik Elias is progressing and has done some light skating on his own.

Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: On the Blues …

  • The Blues confirmed yesterday that Robby Fabbri suffered a concussion in the first period of Saturday’s game. He’s listed as being day-to-day, but will be out indefinitely.

“We’re going to miss Robby,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. “I was surprised on the concussion because he had three great shifts after the concussion. We’re going to miss him, we’re going to miss his spunk.”

USA Today: On the Kings …

  • Forward Dwight King will be out eight to 10 weeks after having surgery on his broken right foot.

Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post: On the Capitals …

  • Center Nicklas Backstrom practiced in a ‘red’ jersey yesterday for the first time, signalling that he can participate in more drills. He hasn’t officially been cleared for contact yet, but that could come later this week after he meets with his surgeon. Once cleared for contact, it could be one or two full practices before he gets into a game.

“He’s done everything possible to get back as quick as possible, so he’s done a really good job,” Trotz said. “It’s really important that we do the right thing not only for this season, but for the next 10 or 12 seasons that he’s playing.”

Ansar Khan of MLive: On the Red Wings …

  • Forward Darren Helm is skated yesterday on the fourth line yesterday and his status should be known this morning.

“Just got to talk to doc; voice a few concerns and see what everyone thinks and then make a decision after that,” Helm said.

If the Red Wings activate Helm, they’ll need to make a roster move. Nobody was put on waivers yesterday, so the only option at the moment would be to send Alexey Marchenko to the AHL as he doesn’t need to clear waivers.
