Injury updates for Wednesday October 21st …
- Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago: The Blackhawks will be without Duncan Keith for four to six weeks after he had surgery on his right knee. Niklas Hjalmarsson will go back to the left side, and was paired with Trevor van Riemsdyk yesterday. Brett Seabrook remained with Viktor Svedberg, and Trevor Daley was with David Rundblad.
- Coach Joel Quenneville said it’s possible that they put Keith on the LTIR to free up some salary cap space. Michal Rozsival is eligible to come off the LTIR around October 29th and could be close to returning then.
- Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News: Red Wings Pavel Datsyuk skated on his own on Monday, but is still a few weeks away from returning to practice.
“Datsyuk’s making progress,” Blashill said. “I don’t have a time(frame on a return). But he’s making progress.”
Original projections have he returning in early November.
- NHL.com: Senators Clarke MacArthur and Marc Methot are out with concussions according to GM Bryan Murray. MacArthur has been out since October 14th.
“We’re going to take our time with him,” Murray said in comments tweeted by the Senators.
Methot has been out since October 15th and could return as early as Saturday.
- Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk was back on the ice, but it could be a while before the returns to the lineup. He’s been bothered by a groin injury since last week.
“Today, it felt a lot better,” Shattenkirk said. “I was able to participate in drills, so that’s promising. Hopefully in the next week or so, I can get back into playing some battle drills, more starts and stops, little things like that that will see how it really feels getting ready for a game.”
They are being cautious with him.
- Adam Vingan of The Tennessean: Predators Ryan Ellis is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Barret Jackman and Austin Watson are day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
- J.J. Regan of CSN Mid Atlantic: The Oilers put Matt Hendricks on the IR Monday with a foot injury. He’s out at least seven days.
- Chris Johnston: Maple Leafs center Tyler Bozak hasn’t skated since he suffered the lower-body injury on Friday and is day-to-day.
- Rich Chere: Devils coach John Hynes said that Patrik Elias isn’t close to practicing with the team.
