- Jenn Menendez of my Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Penguins Kris Letang was released from hospital yesterday. He was diagnosed with a concussion after a hit by Shane Doan on Saturday night. There is no timetable for his return. Letang has a history of concussions and he had a stroke last year.
“We’ll see how he feels over the next few days and go from there,” Johnston said.
- Shelly Anderson: Depending on the status of Kris Letang and Christian Ehrhoff, the Penguins might finish the rest of the regular season with five defensemen. Daniel Winnik could be used on the blueline in an emergency.
- Lou Korac: Blues Alex Steen is day-to-day and could play tonight. If he can’t go, he should be ready for Thursday. Coach Ken Hitchcock said that if Steen and TJ Oshie skate this morning, they will be in the lineup.
- Joe Smith: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said that Jason Garrison was being looked at by doctors yesterday and that more should be known today. Cedric Paquette is day-to-day. Good news for Paquette since the incident with the post didn’t look good.
- Eric Stephens: Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner missed last night’s game with a minor lower-body injury.
- Shawn Rorke: Ducks Matt Beleskey was on the ice for their warmup yesterday, but was not able to go.
- Chip Alexander: Hurricanes Riley Nash suffered an upper-body injury during warmups yesterday.
- Wes Gilbertson: Flames winger Paul Byron is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
