- Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Penguins Olli Maatta has been diagnosed with the mumps. Roberto Bortuzzo and Thomas Greiss were tested, but the results came back negative.
- Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: Flyers goalie Steve Mason was injured during practice yesterday.
“Steve Mason has an upper-body injury and is out for the weekend,” general manager Ron Hextall said. “We will have an update on Monday.”
- Marc Antoine Godin: Canadiens Max Pacioretty is day-to-day, and his status for today is uncertain.
- Ansar Khan: Red Wings Ken Holland said that Jimmy Howard is day-to-day. Injury doesn’t appear to be serious. They did call up Tom McCollum.
- Ken Wiebe: Jets coach Paul Maurice said that Dustin Byfuglien took a stick late in the game, thinks that he should be okay, but they won’t know for sure until today.
- Eric Stephens: Ducks Hampus Lindholm is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
- Bruce Garrioch: Senators Chris Neil is four to six weeks away from returning.
- David Alter: Maple Leafs Leo Komarov skated for about 25 minutes before practice.
- Aaron Portzline: Blue Jackets Brian Gibbons has a lower-body injury.
