- Dennis Bernstein via twitter: No definitive offer from LA Kings for Ales Hemsky, but talk is increasing. Possibly a Simmonds and Teubert package or Simmonds and top defenseman prospect/1st round pick.
- Bob McKenzie and Chip Alexander via twitter: Ian White didn’t practice with the Hurricanes today. He hasn’t been traded yet, but could be at some point. Paul Maurice said that “if something happens with White it will be in next 24 hrs.”
- Update: Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Canucks haven’t traded for Ian White, nor have they had a single conversation about trading for White.
- Will DePaoli of Inside Pittsbugh Sports: The Penguins have been scouting the Senators, Devils, Avalanche, and Panthers in recent days. They are hoping that as the days pass, more teams will fall out of playoff contention and become sellers, increasing the trade market. They will look for rental players, and not a longer term guy like an Ales Hemsky, they don’t want to give the assets to get a player like him. They don’t think there is another team interested in Alex Kovalev and could get him for a conditional 5th round pick. Organizational members are torn on Kovalev.
