- Stefano Esposito of the Chicago Sun-Times: Patrick Kane has met with investigators from the Erie County District Attorney’s office according to unnamed law enforcement sources. Kane’s attorney was there, and one source in the News’ story said a detective from the Hamberg Police was also there. Kane’s attorney wouldn’t comment last night. Kane hasn’t been charged with a crime.
- Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: Wild assistant coach Darryl Sydor has entered the NHL/NHLPA’s Substance/Behavioral Health Program. Sydor will spend at least the next 30 days in the program according to his lawyer.
“He’s hurt, he’s upset, he’s embarrassed by his actions, and his family is, too,” Sydor’s attorney Ryan Pacyga said Monday. “Right now, it’s about Darryl taking care of himself and really getting his arms around this.”
Sydor went to a treatment center last summer and had said that he was sober all of last season. He had recently relapsed and didn’t continue with the program.
- Ansar Khan of MLive: The Red Wings trainer went to visit Pavel Datsyk to see how his rehab was going, and liked what he saw according GM Ken Holland.
“Piet watched him work out, told me he’s in good spirits,” Holland said. “He’s had no setbacks. He’s doing lots of training. He’s excited. He wants to feel 100 percent. He’s happy about the surgery, what he’s able to do at this point.”
Datsyuk will be re-evaluated mid-September.
“Right now, all the news I’m getting is positive,” Holland said. “I think he’s on schedule. The doctor told us it was a minimum of three months to heal. Does he get the green light to skate lightly or will he be held back for a period of time?”
