  • Carolina Hurricanes: Eric Staal (upper-body) and Patrick Dwyer (lower-body) left last night’s game and didn’t return. (Staal left the game a little woozy after taking a hit from Matt Martin)
  • Tim Campbell: Jets coach Paul Maurice said that Evander Kane will be out at least two weeks. Ken Wiebe: Kane’s lower-body will be re-evaluated in two weeks. They felt the news was positive.
  • Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun: Dustin Byfuglien was moved up to Kane’s spot on the Jets second line with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler.
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Senators coach Paul MacLean said there is no update on Marc Methot’s status and he’s no closer to returning to the lineup. He’s thought to be having a back issue and is on the IR.

“It’s been evaluated and re-evaluated already. The doctors see him regularly to see if anything more has to be done or what actually has to be done,” MacLean said. “He’s doing rehab. He’s doing whatever the therapists are telling him to do but nothing more than that.”

  • Nicholas Goss: Bruins Gregory Campbell hasn’t been cleared for contact yet.
  • Nicholas Goss: Bruins coach Claude Julien said that David Krejci is day-to-day. He skated for the first time yesterday.
  • Ansar Khan: Red Wings Pavel Datsyuk said he’s feeling better but there is no timetable for when he’ll return. His next step is to get cleared for contact.
  • Joe Smith: The Lightning will have a better idea with regards to Jonathan Drouin’s status on Monday or Tuesday.
  • Igor Eronko: Ville Leino signed a one-year deal with Medvescak of the KHL.
  • Mark Master: Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle confirmed that they will make changes today; James Reimer is expected to start and Cody Franson could make his season debut.
  • George Richards: Panthers attendance for their home opener last night: 11,419.
  • Darren Dreger: Matthew Lombardi cleared waivers and his contract will be terminated.
