Chip Alexander: Forward Jeff Skinner returned to Raleigh yesterday to have his upper-body injury evaluated.

Carolina Hurricanes: Brock McGinn left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sean Shapiro: Defenseman Kris Letang isn’t on the Penguins road trip.

Pens Inside Scoop: Coach Mike Sullivan on Letang: “We felt it was better he stayed back and was able to get better rehab and quality skates with our skills coach.”

Pens Inside Scoop: Conor Sheary practiced yesterday in a regular jersey.

On the New York Rangers …

Dan Rosen: Defenseman Dan Girardi is out two weeks according to coach Alain Vigneault. The wound on his ankle isn’t healing properly.

Scott Powers: Coach Joel Quenneville said that Niklas Hjalmarsson is out for the rest of the week.

Scott King: The Blackhawks put Hjalmarsson on the IR retroactive to February 23rd.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Jeremy Rutherford: Ryan Reaves (lower-body) practiced with the team yesterday.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Dana Wakiji: Coach Willie Desjardins said that Ben Hutton and Markus Granlund tested negative for mumps. Michael Chaput has the mumps.

Vancouver Canucks: “Stecher is good to go. Tryamkin is not in tonight. Baertschi is close, hopefully he’s ready for the trip. Markstrom felt better today.”

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Arizona Coyotes: Alex Burmistrov was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

AZ Central Sports:  Burmistrov was released from the hospital and is “going to be all right.”

Sarah McLellan: Burmistrov was taken off the ice on a stretcher.
