Sean Farrell: Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jacob Bryson left last night’s game in the second period with an upper-body injury. Coach Lindy Ruff said, “He’s going to miss some time.”

Chicago Blackhawks: Forward Frank Nazar was activated from the IR.

  • Daily Faceoff: Blackhawks forward Andre Burakovsky also returned to the lineup last night.

Kurt Dusterberg: Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson missed last night’s game due to illness.

Jeff Svoboda: The Columbus Blue Jackets activated forward Mason Marchment from the IR and placed defenseman Denton Mateychuk on the IR retroactive to January 11th.

Craig Merz: Blue Jackets forward Isac Lundestrom returned to the lineup after missing 13 games with a lower-body injury.

Gerry Moddejonge: Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl returned last night after missing the past three games for personal reasons.

Dennis Bernstein: Los Angeles Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper was on the ice yesterday and is able to travel with the team. Kuemper said the hit to the head pinched a nerve/stinger. He was fine the next morning.

Dennie Bernstein: Kings forward Trevor Moore was on the ice yesterday morning, forward Anze Kopitar wasn’t, but both will travel.

TSN: Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin underwent surgery to deal with a lingering lower-body injury. As a result, he won’t be able to play for Team Sweden at the Winter Olympics. It’s not known when he’ll be able to get back on the ice.

“He got it done at a good time,” Hynes said. “He will be back, for sure, with more than enough time in the season.”

Forward Matt Boldy has missed the Wild’s past four games with a lower-body injury. Defenseman Zach Bogosian has missed their past nine games. Forwards Joel Eriksson Ek and Marcus Johansson returned to the lineup.

Sean Farrell: Montreal Canadiens forward Alexandre Texier missed his second consecutive game with a lower-body injury and is day-to-day.

Bruce Garrioch: Ottawa Senators forward David Perron will be out for five to seven weeks, as he requires surgery to repair a sports hernia.

Gerry Moddejonge: Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson returned to the lineup after missing the past five games with a lower-body injury.

Chris Johnston: Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson is going to miss some time with a lower-body injury. Pierre LeBrun reported that it’s not expected to impact his availability for the Olympics.

There is also some concern with defenseman Brandon Carlo, and that he might have tweaked something during Monday’s game.

More should be known on Friday.

TSN: Johnston noted late Thursday afternoon that there is a little more optimism around Ekman-Larsson and Carlo, and they may not miss any time, with the possibility of being in the lineup Friday night.

Jeff Paterson: Vancouver Canucks coach Adam Foote said that forward Filip Chytil could return to the lineup tonight.
