On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Defenseman Adam McQuaid left yesterday’s game after just seven shifts with an upper-body injury. It was the Bruins fourth straight game in which they lost a defenseman. The Bruins are already without Torey Krug, Brandon Carlo and Colin Miller.

McQuaid blocked a Alex Burrow’s shot on his final shift of the game, but it’s not known if that is were the injury happened.

“It’s an upper body injury,” said Cassidy. “As the game goes on I just get an update that it doesn’t look good and he probably won’t be back tonight. We’ll see how he is .”

Defenseman Brandon Carlo is progressing but the Bruins might have to recall a defenseman.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Defenseman Marc Methot returned to the lineup after missing 10 games, but they lost defenseman Mark Borowiecki after he crashed into the boards. The Senators have listed him as day-to-day.

“He was going to come back and we told him just stay put, we don’t want to aggravate it,” coach Guy Boucher said. “It actually looked better after the game. We’ll see. We’ve got good, quality depth with our defencemen so we’ll see if next game he’s OK.

“They lost a guy (Adam McQuaid), and it seems like every game every team is losing a guy. That’s playoffs and that’s why your depth comes into play. We’re extremely confident (our defence) is really solid so we’ll look at who comes in next game if he’s not ready. If he’s ready to go, we’ll have him in.”

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sportsnet: Penguins goaltender Matt Murray tweaked his groin before the start of Game 1 and he could be done for the rest of the series according to Nick Kypreos.

“Sullivan the head coach of Pittsburgh says there is a timetable for Murray to return, just not a public one. You certainly get a sense watching this…that this is not a day-to-day situation here.

“He may be done at least for the rest of this series,” Kypreos said.

Pens Inside Scoop: Not at practice yesterday for the Pens – Fleury, Murray, Ruhwedel, Kunitz, Hagelin, Daley, and Sheary

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Mark Whicker of the OC Register: Defenseman Sami Vatanen missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Ryan Rishaug: Defenseman Oscar Klefbom didn’t practice yesterday.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Mark Lazerus: Coach Joel Quenneville said that forward Andrew Desjardins is getting close to being able to start skating.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Mark Masters: Coach Mike Babcock when asked if Nikita Zaitsev is going through concussion protocol: “No, he’s going through medical protocol so whatever that means”

James Mirtle: Babock on Zaitsev: “I saw him out there today and got very excited. They shot me down though.” (Zaitsev skated yesterday morning)

TSN: Coach Mike Babcock announced after the game that defenseman Roman Polak is out for the rest of the season.
