On the Detroit Red Wings ..

Ansar Khan: GM Ken Holland said that Tomas Tatar will have shoulder surgery on Thursday and will be out for four to six months. Tatar indicated that he’ll be ready for the start of the season.

Ted Kulfan: Forward Justin Abdelkader will be having an MRI on his knee later this week. It wasn’t fully healed from earlier this season.

Ansar Khan: Abdelkader’s MRI will determine if his knee will need to be scoped or not.

On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov: Goaltender Roberto Luongo admits that he is a bit concerned that his hip issue could be chronic, but he’s confident the he can return to his elite self next season.

Jason Brough: “Will be interesting to monitor for Canucks’ sake. Will Luongo retire in a couple of years? Or will he finish his contract on LTIR? Signed until 2022, with severe cap recapture implications.”

Harvey Fialkov: Forward Jussi Jokinen said that he suffered a MCL injury early in the year. He wore a knee brace but it never felt right. Added that it’s not an excuse for his poor season.

Harvey Fialkov: Jokinen and Luongo both won’t require surgery. Luongo said his hip issue wasn’t the same as the hip issue he had before.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Andrew Gross: Forward Taylor Hall said that after his knee surgery on December 1st that caused him to miss eight games, was still not 100 percent after 15 games back.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

News 1130 Sports: Brendan Gaunce will have shoulder surgery next week. Recovery is expected to be three to four month, so he should be ready for the start of training camp.

Rick Dhaliwal: Defenseman Chris Tanev on his injuries: “I can now re-hab my high ankle sprain. I had a few injuries, but I don’t really want to get into it.”

Rick Dhaliwal: Goaltender Jacob Markstrom said that he’ll be healthy in a month. Markus Granlund said that he’ll be ready for the start of training camp.
