On the New York Rangers …

Steve Zipay: Rangers GM Jeff Gorton said that Mika Zibanejad doesn’t need surgery on his broken leg. It’s a non-displaced fracture.

Steve Zipay: Forward Pavel Buchnevich has no structural damage to his back and will need two to three weeks of rehab.

On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov of the Sun-Sentinel: Panthers center Nick Bjugstad has been cleared to return to the lineup, but they lost defenseman Alex Petrovic. Petrovic broke his ankle after blocking a shot during Thursday’s game against the Maple Leafs. He is expected to be out for about two months.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James: Red Wings GM Ken Holland said that defenseman Alexey Marchenko will be out “a couple of weeks” with an upper-body injury.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Matt Loughlin: Devils forward Kyle Palmieri missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury.

On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Stephen Whyno: The Hurricanes put goaltender Eddie Lack on the IR and recalled Michael Leighton.

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Coach Barry Trotz said that Lars Eller is day-to-day and they are not sure if he’ll skate today.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Dave Molinari: The Penguins haven’t said anything about Chris Kunitz‘s injury.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch: Looking like Mike Hoffman is good for tonight. A decision on Bobby Ryan will be made today.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

Amy Moritz of the Buffalo News: Ryan O’Reilly skated with teammates yesterday for the first time since suffering his oblique injury on Nov. 12. They decided to keep him out of the lineup last night to give his body a few more days. He is hoping to be able to play tomorrow against the Red Wings.

Paul Hamilton of WGR 550: Coach Dan Bylsma said that Jack Eichel is progressing well as is ankle injury approaches the six week mark.

“Jack has now skated a seventh time. He’s ramped up to his third level of skating and hopefully you’ll see another level of participation here in short order.” Bylsma was asked if the next step would be skating with the team and he said yes.

 

Mike Harrington: Jack Eichel has been ramping up his skating according to coach Bylsma. He is getting close to skating with teammates.
