On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: Forward Joe Thornton had to be helped to the dressing room after a collision with Canucks forward Michael Chaput. Thornton’s left knee bent in an unnatural position. He was able to get off the ice on his own on one leg. Coach Peter DeBoer after the game.

“We’ll get home and he’ll get checked out tomorrow.”

The Sharks are already without Logan Couture who has missed the past four games.

Curtis Pashelka: Thornton was able to leave the arena under his own power and without crutches but he did have a noticeable limp.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Daily News: Michal Neuvirth was released from hospital yesterday and all diagnostic testing came back normal. He’s at home resting and will be reevaluated this afternoon.

“I’m not a doctor, but the tests came back normal and that’s pretty much what you’re looking for,” Hextall said before the game against the New York Rangers on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. “Other than that, just something freak happened. Health-wise, everything is good.”

GM Ron Hextall said that “My understanding is that his sinus was clogged up, and that had something to do with it.”

Neuvirth said he got a little dizzy with Hextall adding he thought “a few things related to dehydration” may have contributed to Neuvirth’s collapse.

Goaltender Steve Mason has been dealing with a stomach virus.

Defenseman Radko Gudas has concussion like symptoms.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Forward Brad Richardson had been skating with the team in hope of returning the season. That won’t be the case they shut him down last week and he had the screws removed from his leg (he fractured his tibia and fibula back in November) on Friday.

“It’s a really tough injury,” coach Dave Tippett said. “The character of Brad, he pushed hard, but it just wasn’t going the right way for him. He’d have some good days and some tough days. … I think it’s a little bit of a relief for him actually to say, ‘OK, I’m just on to the next phase now and have a good summer and be ready for next year.’”
