On the Buffalo Sabres …

John Vogl of the Buffalo News: Paul Hamilton of WGR 550 reported yesterday that Kyle Okposo is in the Neuro Surgical ICU at a Buffalo hospital. Coach Dan Bylsma said he was “very concerned.” Okposo has been out since March 28th with an illness.

Buffalo Sabres: Statement from the Sabres on Okposo.

“Kyle continues to be under the care of our doctors as he deals with symptoms from an illness. Out of respect to Kyle and his family, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Sabres PR: Forward Marcus Foligno left last night’s game with a knee injury.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette: The Penguins announced that defenseman Kris Letang will be out for four to six months as he required surgery on a herniated disc in his neck.

“It’s obviously disappointing,” Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. “He’s an elite player and a great teammate. He’s a tough guy to replace, but this team has done it all year long, and that’s what we’re going to have to continue to do.”

Letang has been out since February 21st. He had an MRI back then and they knew about the issue, but doctors had hoped to avoid surgery.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Mike Sullivan on Evgeni Malkin: “We’re optimistic that Geno will be ready. He’s been skating for a couple days now.”

Pens Inside Scoop: Defenseman Olli Maatta practiced yesterday in a no-contact jersey. Trevor Daley and Tom Sestito practiced in a regular jersey

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Kyle Bukauskas: Claude Julien didn’t have much of an update on defenseman Shea Weber but did say that “it’s not a serious injury.”

Eric Engels: Weber should be good for the playoffs.

Dan Rosen: Defenseman Alexei Emelin left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Coach Barry Trotz said they were just being cautious with keeping defenseman John Carlson out last night night. He has a nagging issue.

On the New York Rangers …

Tom Gulitti: The Rangers were without six regulars last night: Ryan McDonagh, Rick Nash, Mats Zuccarello, Jesper Fast, Nick Holden and Brady Skjei.

Steve Zipay: Both Skjei and Holden missed last night’s game with “bumps and bruises.”

On the New Jersey Devils …

Andrew Gross: Coach John Hynes said that Devante Smith-Pelly is done for the season with a lower-body injury. He hasn’t started skating yet.

Andrew Gross: Hynes said that Miles Wood (shoulder) and Jacob Josefson (upper-body) are expected to play tonight.
