On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan: Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said that Niklas Kronwall could be ready for their season opener against the Lightning.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

Paul Hamilton: Sabres Zach Bogosian has a pulled groin and he won’t play this week. Nicholas Baptiste is dealing with some back pain.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Terry Koshan: Leafs coach Mike Babcock said that Nikita Soshnikov is dealing with a hamstring issue. When he’s able to go, he’ll start the season with the Marlies.

James Mirtle: Frederik Andersen will make his Maple Leafs debut tonight.

On the Minnesota Wild …

Michael Russo: Charlie Coyle has a lower-body issue and Ryan Carter has an upper-body issue. Carter is on a PTO and listed as day-to-day.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Senators Mark Stone could return to the Senators lineup on Friday if he passes his baseline test on Thursday.

“I feel good. I’ve really come along the last three to four days,” said Stone. “I’ve been able to skate with the guys twice now and it just brings your mood up when you’re around the guys.

“The first couple of days when you’re by yourself it sucks for any injury especially a concussion. It’s refreshing to get back with the guys and I’m starting to feel better every day.”

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Terry Frei of the Denver Post: Matt Duchene was on the right side of Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Bourque at Avs camp on Monday. Duchene admitted that he suffered a Grade 1 shoulder separation on September 13th during a Team Canada’s World Cup practice.

“It’s one of those things, it doesn’t get worse when you play with it. It’s just painful. It’s going to linger for a bit, but it’s feeling good. I just got bumped in practice. It was weird, it was a bad-luck injury. That was it.”

Duchene said he will probably start the season on right wing.
