On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Daily News: Goalie Michal Neuvirth collapsed with over 12 minutes left in the first period yesterday. Neuvirth was alert while being taken off this ice on a stretcher and was taken to the hospital for observation.

Chuck Gormley: Flyers GM Ron Hextall said that Michal Neuvirth will remain in Philadelphia and won’t be with the team for their game today. Steve Mason is sick but is a possibility.

Chuck Gormley: Hextall said they had no concerns about Neuvirth before the game. He did say that he had a chest cold.

Tom Gulitti: Hextall didn’t want to speculate what caused Neuvirth to collapse.

David Isaac: Defenseman Radko Gudas left yesterday’s game early with an upper-body injury. Might have been from a Dalton Prout hit.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Steven Stamkos is getting closer to being able to return to the lineup.

“You never know,” Stamkos said. “It could be next game (today against Dallas). It could not even be the rest of the season. I’m not going to go out there until I know I’m confident in what I can do and have no hesitation.”

Coach Jon Cooper said he’s now “day-to-day” and “pretty close.”

Bryan Burns: Cooper on if Stamkos and Tyler Johnson are close to returning to the lineup: “Maybe that road trip, could be a chance some of those guys come back.”

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James: Forward Andreas Athanasiou left yesterday’s game early after taking a stick to the face.

Dana Wakiji: Athanasiou took some stitches to his lip.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch: Defenseman Cody Ceci won’t play tomorrow. Either Erik Karlsson will return to the lineup or they recall someone or both could happen.

On the New York Islanders …

Arthur Staple: Forward John Tavares is out week-to-week with a hamstring injury.

Darren Dreger: Tavares had an MRI done yesterday morning. Treatment and rest appears to be the best option right now.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Bill West: Coach Mike Sullivan said they don’t have a timetable on Chris Kunitz‘s lower-body injury.

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Forward Jimmy Hayes is “questionable” for today’s game after leaving yesterday’s game in the first period with a lower-body injury.
