Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Defenseman Anton Stralman returned on the weekend, but they lost defenseman Jason Garrison after he suffered a lower-body injury on Thursday. He blocked a shot off the outside of his leg and is day-to-day.
“He took a shot in a spot where there was no pad,” coach Jon Cooper said. “Those aren’t comfortable, but I don’t think it’ll be too long term.”
On the Ottawa Senators …
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Senators GM Pierre Dorion said on Friday that he is 100 percent certain that Clarke MacArthur will return to lineup if he gets medical clearance. During training camp MacArthur suffered his fourth concussion in the past 18 months.
“That’s my full intention if they will clear me to play. I want to play for sure,” MacArthur said Saturday. “Things are slowly getting better.
“They never know when they’re going to actually clear you but I’m going to keep taking the next steps and hopefully get into contact by the end of the (California swing). We’ve got to do the tests but if I’m medically cleared, I’m for sure playing.”
Many think MacArthur should retire.
“It’s a risk. For sure it’s a risk but it’s my risk, but I feel I’ve completely come around full circle …,” MacArthur added. “I haven’t been able to fulfil anything in this contract I’ve signed, and that’s a kind of cloud over top of me.
“You want to come back and earn your money and do what you’re supposed to do. That’s something that has been bugging me for some time here so I definitely want to get back out there and do whatever I can.”
