Eric Stephens: Ryan Getzlaf wasn’t in the lineup last night due to a lower-body injury. Coach Randy Carlyle said he’s improving and they don’t see him being out long-term.

Mark Stepneski: The Stars activated Antoine Roussel from the IR and placed Jamie Benn on the IR retroactive to December 31st.

Western Conference Notes …
Lou Korac: (Ty Rattie was claimed from waivers by the Hurricanes) Coach Ken Hitchcock on Rattie: “Guy’s got to have a chance to play. He’s a good player, he’s been a good soldier here … for four years now.” … “If (Rattie) wasn’t going to play here on a regular basis, then give him a chance to play somewhere else.”
- Rattie was only able to get into four games with the St. Louis Blues this season and was held pointless. He played three games in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves and recorded an assist. In 30 career NHL games, the 23-year old has scored four goals and added four assists. Rattie was drafted 32nd overall in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft by the St. Louis Blues.
Kevin Kurz: The Sharks put Matt Nieto on waivers yesterday and they expect that he will get claimed. GM Doug Wilson on Nieto: “ deserves the opportunity to play in the league, and we’re happy to work with him and his agent to make this a possibility.”
- The 24-year old Nieto recorded only two assists in 16 games for the Sharks this season. In 221 career NHL games, Nieto has scored 28 goals and added 42 assists for 70 points. He was drafted 47th overall in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft by the San Jose Sharks.
