On the Anaheim Ducks …
Helene Elliott: Coach Randy Carlyle said that defenseman Cam Fowler (knee) has started to do some exercises at the gym using a slideboard. There is still no target date for his return to the lineup.
Eric Stephens: Coach Carlyle said that defenseman Sami Vatanen (upper-body) will travel with the team. They will assess him before Game 3 to see if he’s able to go.
Eric Stephens: Vatanen first became questionable on Saturday morning. They wouldn’t confirm if his injury is related to his recent one, and they wouldn’t deny it either.
Lisa Dillman of NHL.com: It will be up to Vatanen if he can go. He’ll get treatment this morning after their skate and after warmups.
“There was a question mark whether his injury was responding to the treatment, and obviously it did not, to the point where he wasn’t comfortable going out there,” Caryle said. “We leave it up to the player to make the decision if he can play or not, and he said he wasn’t 100 percent to compete.”
On the Chicago Blackhawks …
Brian Hedger: Forward Andrew Desjardins (lower-body) and defenseman Michal Rozsival (facial surgery) are not traveling with the team to Nashville.
On the San Jose Sharks …
Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News: Forward Joe Thornton was able to return to the lineup after missing two weeks with a knee injury. Thornton was hurt in a collision with Canucks Michael Chaput back on April 2nd.
