On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
Kristen Shilton of TSN: It’s looking like the Maple Leafs won’t be losing goaltender Frederik Andersen to a long-term injury. He was pulled on Saturday night, but was on the ice yesterday before practice, and for about 20 minutes into practice.
“I got bumped pretty early in the game , and didn’t feel right the rest of the period,” Andersen said. “I wanted to see what happened in intermission and decided to play it safe.”
Andersen wouldn’t say what the injury was. Coach Mike Babcock said he’s day-to-day.
Pierre LeBrun: Babcock on Andersen: “it doesn’t appear to be long, obviously that’s great”
Dave Feschuk of the Toronto Star: Andersen may have suffered a jaw injury. Source saying Andersen is optimistic about returning as early as tonight. Andersen took a puck to the jaw last year around this team. He suffered some dizziness with the team calling it a concussion, but he didn’t think it was one.
Darren Dreger: “Freddie Andersen status determined soon. He was removed on Saturday based on protocol, however there is no minimum time he must sit. A player can’t be returned to play same day, but can be cleared when symptom free at rest and with exertion and returned to baseline.”
On the Boston Bruins …
Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask suffered a lower-body injury last Thursday, but if all goes well after yesterday’s practice and this morning skate, he should be back in the net tonight.
Boston Bruins: Matt Beleskey was on the ice yesterday. He was away from the team for family reasons. Tim Schaller (lower-body) practiced in a no-contact jersey.
Joe Haggerty: Forward David Krejci left practice early yesterday.
“He’s got a bit of an upper body issue, he’s got a little discomfort,” said Cassidy of Krejci, who has one point and a minus-4 rating over his past four games. “He got treated and I believe he’ll be fine tomorrow. I don’t think it’s anything major, but I can’t speculate . But that’s the issue.”
