Joakim Nordstrom (lower-body) was on the ice with Krejci before practice but didn’t stay on with the full group.

Matt Porter: Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller is back on the ice skating according to GM Sweeney. There is no timetable on his return.

John Vogl: Buffalo Sabres coach Ralph Krueger said that defenseman Brandon Montour (hand) is a few weeks away from taking contact.

Defenseman Zach Bogosian (hip) had a few setbacks in the offseason and is “a ways away” from returning to the team.

Wes Gilbertson: Calgary Flames forward Mikael Backlund is dealing with a lower-body injury. GM Brad Treliving expects that he’ll be ready for their season opener on Thursday.

  • Pat Steinberg: Backlund wasn’t on the ice yesterday for practice.

Ansar Khan: Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said that forward Andreas Athanasiou is dealing a “tweak.” They are hoping he can practice Thursday and play on Friday.

Dana Wakiji: Blashill didn’t have an update on Dylan Larkin.

Matt Vensel: Pittsburgh Penguins GM Jim Rutherford said that forward Alex Galchenyuk skated on his own yesterday and is expected to practice with the team today.

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Washington Capitals defenseman Michael Kempny won’t go on the IR but he’s not able to go in their opener.

Mitchell Clinton: Winnipeg Jets forward Bryan Little is in concussion protocol.

Defenseman Nathan Beaulieu suffered an upper-body injury in their last preseason game. The Jets won’t have an update on him for four weeks.

  • Ken Wiebe: Beaulieu injury explains why the Jets put a waiver claim on defenseman Carl Dahlstrom.

Mitchell Clinton: Jets defenseman Sami Niku practiced with the full group for the first time since suffering his groin injury. They aren’t sure if he’ll be ready for their season opener yet.
