Updating some injuries throughout the league
Lance Lysowski: Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jake McCabe will miss their final two preseason games with an upper-body injury. He is expected to be ready for the start of the season.
Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes forward Ryan Dzingel left last night’s game early with a lower-body injury.
Tracey Myers: Chicago Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton said that goaltender Robin Lehner‘s injury isn’t serious.
Colliton added that forward Kirby Dach will travel with the team to Europe.
Craig Merz of NHL.com: Columbus Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky is sidelined indefinitely with a wrist injury.
“He’s has a nicked wrist for a while,” general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. “He’s been dealing with it quite a bit, but I can’t get into the specifics of the injury.”
- Brian Hedger: Dubinsky’s agent Kurt Overhardt said last night that his wrist injury could be “long-term” but they are not certain yet. He will take some time off and then have it re-evaluated.
“A lot of players play with pain and a lot of players play through things, which he’s done since his surgery.”
Tom Gazzola: Edmonton Oilers Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is dealing with a sore leg and won’t play tonight.
Defenseman Joel Persson will be out for seven to 10 days with a shoulder injury.
Sarah McLellan: Minnesota Wild defenseman Greg Pateryn has been sent home with a lower-body injury to be evaluated.
Dave Isaac: Philadelphia Flyers coach Alain Vigneault didn’t have an update on Nolan Patrick‘s status and that he likely isn’t traveling with the team to Europe.
- Adam Kimelman of NHL.com: Vigneault said he’s not 100 percent sure if Patrick will travel with the team. GM Chuck Fletcher said that Patrick’s injury occurred before the start of training camp and that surgery was not being considered.
“We’ve known about it for a while,” Fletcher said then. “Been working with him for a while to try to get him healthy as quickly as we can.”
Curtis Pashelka: San Jose Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said that Radim Simek is doubtful for their season-opener, though should be ready soon after. He hasn’t suffered any setbacks and is close to being able to join the team for practices.
Jeremy Rutherford: St. Louis Blue forward Ivan Barbashev is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Jordan Kyrou has a knee issue but skated yesterday.
