On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Chip Alexander: The Hurricanes have signed forward Valentin Zykov to a two-year contract that will pay him $650,000 next season and $700,000 the following year.

On the Los Angeles Kings and Drew Doughty …

Frank Seravalli: “By my elementary math skills, it would appear Drew Doughty now has the second-most dollars guaranteed all-time ($155 million) in #NHL history. Only Sidney Crosby ($159 million) has more on the books. Jaromir Jagr was most of older generation (~$133 million)”

Frank Seravalli: By not using an agent and doing the deal himself, he saved between $1.75 and $2.5 million in agent fees.

John Hoven: Doughty’s contract extension similar to Anze Kopitar, first four years with a no-movement clause and then four years of a modified no-trade clause.

On the New York Islanders …

Renaud Lavoie: The Islanders and goaltender Christopher Gibson agree on a two-year deal where he’ll make $650,000 in the NHL and $225,000 in the AHL next year followed by $700,000 and $250,000 following year.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Wes Crosby: The Penguins signed Jean Sebastien Dea signed a one-year, two-way deal worth $650,000.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Lou Korac: 2018 first-round draft pick Dominik Bokk will play in Sweden next season. He realizes that he has some work to do before he’s NHL ready.

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan: The Capitals and Michal Kempny agreed on a four-year contract at a $2.5 million salary cap hit.

Isabelle Khurshudyan: The term may have been a little longer than they had wanted, but it helped keep the salary cap number down.

Isabelle Khurshudyan: The Capitals have $9.7 million salary cap space with Tom Wilson on the only ‘big’ player left to re-sign. He could be looking for something in the $3.5 to $4.5 million per year range. No easy to put a value on him as his work doesn’t always show up in the stats.

Pierre LeBrun: Kempny salary breakdown: $3.3 million ($2.3 million signing bonus), $2.7  million ($1.7 million signing bonus), $1.8 million, and $2.2 million ($1.2 million signing bonus.
