On Alexander Wennberg and the Columbus Blue Jackets …
Tom Gulitti of NHL.com: Columbus Blue Jackets restricted free agent forward Alexander Wennberg would have liked to have a new deal in place by now, but he’s not worried about it.
“Eventually it’s going to work out,” Wennberg said during the European Player Media Tour on Thursday. “Even though I have to wait a little longer than expected, that’s a part of it. But you can’t really let that get to your head. Right now, I’m focusing on training and focusing on season and it’s going to work out. Time will tell. I’m not too stressed out about it either.”
Wennberg is open to the idea of signing a long-term deal, but they are going over all options.
“There’s always different ways to discuss,” he said. “Long-term, short-term. But right now, we’re just trying to feel each other out a little bit and see what the other wants. Obviously long-term is a good option, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
On David Pastrnak and the Boston Bruins …
Tim Campbell of NHL.com: Boston Bruins restricted free agent forward David Pastrnak isn’t sure when his contract will get completed.
“I’m just waiting, leaving it all to my agent to communicate with them,” Pastrnak, 21, said during the European Player Media Tour on Thursday. “I’m just focusing on getting ready for next season.
“I’m focusing on getting better and I’m trying not to think about that stuff. I just let it go and something will happen.”
Pastrnak broke out with a 70 point season last year. He was one of 26 players to score 30-plus goals – ended up with 34.
“The guys are great,” he said. “The city is great. The fans are great. I like the arena. The city is full of good restaurants and young people.”
