On the Arizona Coyotes …

Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: Source said that the Arizona Coyotes would be putting David Bolland on the LTIR after training camp. It would reduce the salary they own him to $1.1 million, down from $5.5 million. Insurance will cover the remaining $4.4 million.

Coyotes unsigned RFA forward Tobias Rieder will report to Team Europe’s camp on Monday. Rieder got extra insurance coverage for the tournament.

There had been some speculation that the Coyotes could look to trade Rieder, but a source said on Wednesday that there is no chance the Coyotes move him. Options for Rieder are to sign with the Coyotes, play in Europe or sit out. He must be signed by December 1st if he wants to play in the NHL after that date.

Currently the Coyotes don’t plan on bringing anyone in on a PTO, but that could always change.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: After talking to Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli, Oilers Now hosts Bob Stauffer and Jack Michaels continued to discuss the Oilers potentially bringing in a center on a PTO. Stauffer and Michaels think that Mike Richards could have the best shot on a PTO. Michaels thinks the Oilers could play Leon Draisaitl on right wing.

“I think the real preference for Todd McLellan, for now and the foreseeable future, maybe for the next two or three seasons, is to have Draisaitl on the wing. I really believe that’s the preference. And that’s why they’re saying if we’re bringing in a guy on a PTO he’s not just showing up to fill space, he’s going to have a chance to make the team. What they’re really saying is he’s going to have a chance to make a meaningful impact, which is what you’d expect from a third line centre.”
