On the Colorado Avalanche …

Adrian Dater: “Not at all 100% on this, but: consensus I’m getting is Avs did not come at Dubas with offer to be immediate GM. A post lower than that. So, Leafs then said no to him leaving. Permission was for him to leave only if he got GM offer. Confusing a bit, yes, but what I hear.”

On the Vancouver Canucks …

NHL.com: The Canucks are hoping that they can re-sign goaltender Ryan Miller.

“We have something to offer Ryan that he already knows,” Canucks general manager Jim Benning told the newspaper Thursday. “We’ve got some positives for him and if that’s the route we go, that’s why we’re doing it.”

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The 40-year old Matt Cullen hasn’t decided yet if he’s going to retire after the season.

“I’m probably just going to give you the same answer I gave last year,” Cullen said Sunday. “I’ve been through this enough to understand that I need to give it some time after the season. It’s a decision for me that means a lot, carries a lot of weight. i think it deserves some time after the season.”

Last year he announced in late June that he intended to play another season, and he re-signed with the Penguins in mid-August.

Dan Rosen of NHL.com: Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury could be entering his last playoff series with the Penguins.

“I try not to ,” Fleury, 32, said Sunday with Rowney by his side. “I try to live day by day, go with that.”

Matt Murray is obviously the Penguins goalie of the future and if Fleury won’t waive his no-movement clause for the expansion draft, the Penguins could trade him. They may even trade him if he waives his NMC as they’d rather not lose him for nothing.

“We’ll see at the end of the season,” Fleury said.
