Marc-Andre Fleury to the Calgary Flames makes the most sense

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Adrian Dater: is getting mixed signals on which way the Colorado Avalanche could go on a Francois Beauchemin buyout. Not sure which way they are leaning now.

On five potential landing spots for Marc-Andre Fleury …

Emily Sadler of Sportsnet: Looking at five potential landing spots for Marc-Andre Fleury.

Vegas Golden Knights – Nick Kypreos has been saying for a while now that Fleury will be selected by Vegas, but it doesn’t mean he will stay there.

Calgary Flames – May make the most sense of all teams. The Flames two goalies last year – Brian Elliott and Chad Johnson – are UFAs. The Flames have been linked to Fleury since before the trade deadline.

Winnipeg Jets – Had shaky goaltending last season and like the Flames, are getting close to contending. Fleury could be the difference between making the playoffs and having another lottery pick.

Philadelphia Flyers – Could be a trade destination for Vegas to flip Fleury to.

New York Islanders – Getting close to contending as well and Fleury could help stabilitze them. They do have Thomas Greiss and Jaroslav Halak under contract next year though.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 was asked about the New Jersey Devils trading their first overall pick. Friedman thinks a trade-down is possible depending on the offers.

“First of all, you don’t know who’s going to have the No. 3 pick. You assume Dallas won’t have it in most drafts, so who trades in there and what do they want. How do you have each different player ranked. There’s a lot of players ranked very differently.

“I think New Jersey – I think if they know that they can go down and still get a Makar or a Heiskanen – I think they would definitely consider moving down. I think they would.”
