On the Colorado Avalanche …
Adrian Dater of BSN Denver: The Avs let assistant coaches Tim Army, Dave Farrish and Francois Allaire go. Jean-Ian Filiatrault of the Avs AHL affiliate in San Antonio could be a candidate for the goalie coach position. It’s not known if the Avalanche will hire a full time goalie coach.
Michael Russo: Sources are saying that Dwayne Roloson has already been interviewed by Joe Sakic for the goalie coach position.
On the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs …
Michael Augello: Elliotte Friedman said last night that the Avalanche have asked and have been given permission to the speak with Maple Leafs assistant GM Kyle Dubas.
Elliotte Friedman: As mentioned during the game last night, not sure where the Avs and Dubas stand. There have been some conversations but not sure if it’s still a possibility or if it’s closed off.
Terry Frei: Noted earlier this month that there could be some “massaging” of titles and the possibility of bringing someone in.
Michael Augello: Note that getting permission and leaving are two completely different things. Dubas would have to get some control as a GM to leave the Leafs.
On the Winnipeg Jets …
Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun: Do the Winnipeg Jets ask defenseman Toby Enstrom to waive his no-movement clause for the expansion draft next month, and would he waive it?
If Enstrom agreed to waive his NMC, the Jets could then protect seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie. If he doesn’t, they would have to protect eight skaters and a goalie.
The Jets could also try to make a deal with the Vegas Golden Knights to select/not select a specific player.
The 32-year old Enstrom is entering the final year of his five-year deal and carries a $5.75 million cap hit. Enstrom only recorded 14 points last year, but was dealing with a personal family matter. He had knee surgery in April.
