Andrighetto waiting on the Avalanche
Andrew Zadarnowski: Sven Andrighetto is waiting to see if he’ll be getting a qualifying offer from the Colorado Avalanche.
He has an offer from Avangard Omsk of the KHL to play for Bob Hartley.
Florida Panthers have a goaltender to move
James Mirtle: Would expect that the Florida Panthers will either trade goaltender James Reimer or buy him out in the upcoming weeks. The Panthers would have to retain salary in any Reimer trade.
It hasn’t really worked out well in Florida and they plan on going after goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky in free agency.
Could be a fit in Calgary.
George Richards: With the way James Riemer’s contract is structured, he would have a $3.2 million salary cap hit during the second season, so shouldn’t expect a buyout. The Panthers are trying to find a trade.
James Mirtle: Not sure if there would be a fit with the Toronto Maple Leafs since even if the Panthers retained 50 percent of his salary, his cap hit would still be $1.7 million.
With the news that the Leafs are shopping Sparks today, it may be worth a look.
Maple Leafs shopping Sparks
Pierre LeBrun: Multiple sources have said that the Toronto Maple Leafs have been quietly shopping goaltender Garret Sparks. He has a year left at $750,000.
Panthers not into the Blue Jackets asking price
Pierre LeBrun: The Columbus Blue Jackets haven’t given pending free agents Artemi Panarin or Sergei Bobrovsky permission to talk with any interested teams.
Had been wondering if this would help get a sign-and-trade done but so far it hasn’t.
Pierre LeBrun: Have been getting the sense that the Florida Panthers are not interested in sending a 2nd round pick to do so in a sign-and-trade for either Panarin or Bobrovsky. The cost is too high.
On the other side, the Blue Jackets aren’t just going to give away their rights for a low draft pick either.
