Panarin open to returning to the Blackhawks

Scott Powers of The Athletic: The Chicago Blackhawks traded forward Artemi Panarin to the Columbus Blue Jackets back in June of 2017 for Brandon Saad, and according to a source Panarin would “very seriously considered” signing with the Blackhawks again if he were to reach free agency after next season.

Dan Milstein, Panarin’s agent, wouldn’t comment about Panarin future or about the a possible return to Chicago.

It was reported last month that Panarin wasn’t interested in talking about a contract extension with the Blue Jackets and set a September 13th deadline.

The Blackhawks could fit Panarin’s $6 million salary in this season, but it’s not known if they have the assets to reacquire him in a trade this season, and if they would be interested.

Panarin could be looking for $9 million a season on his next deal.

Nylander hoping for a long-term deal with the Maple Leafs and doesn’t appear to be worried that a deal hasn’t been reached yet

Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Toronto Maple Leafs restricted free agent forward William Nylander is still without a contract and was asked about it earlier this week, and he’s hoping for a long-term contract.

“Of course, I want long term. That’s what I want to do, but we’ll take it slow, day by day, and see what happens,” Nylander said.

Nylander was asked what happens if he doesn’t have a contract signed by the start of training camp.

“I’ve not thought about that. That’s between my agent and Kyle. I’m waiting to see what happens,” Nylander replied. “They’re going to negotiate it, so I don’t think that’ll be a problem.”
