On the Chicago Blackhawks and Carolina Hurricanes …

Mark Lazerus of Chicago Sun-Times: The Blackhawks just signed 2017 first-round draft pick and defenseman Henri Jokiharju. Their work on their blue line won’t be finished there as GM Stan Bowman will continue to look to improve it.

Two sources are saying that they are interested in Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk. Faulk could pair with Duncan Keith and improve their power play.

One source said that the Hurricanes have their eye on forward Brandon Saad.

A potential deal could be bigger as The Athletic has reported that the Blackhawks could also be interested in bringing back goaltender Scott Darling.

On the Boston Bruins …

Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald: The Bruins are expected to be checking out the trade market as they are looking for a left-handed defenseman and potential help up front in a right winger and a third-line center.

The Bruins cap number sits at just over $66 million. Anton Khudobin is a UFA and he’ll need to be re-signed or replaced. Matt Grzelcyk and Sean Kuraly are RFAs and could be used as a trade chip. Riley Nash and Rick Nash are UFAs, and unless they make a trade, Rick could be their best option as a second-line right winger.

So with not having a big budget, options on the blue line could be Calvin de Haan, Thomas Hickey, Ian Cole, Kevin Connauton, Luca Sbisa, Michal Kempny, and John Moore.
