Blue Jackets not liking rumors, teams interested in Namestnikov, no talks for Myers, Blues, and Bobrovsky, and Maroon bets on himself
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: The Columbus Blue Jackets aren’t really happy with all the rumors surrounding goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and forward Artemi Panarin. Bobrovsky is struggling and looks unhappy. He has a no-movement clause but he may have provided the Blue Jackets some teams that he might consider.
Belief that the meeting between Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas and William Nylander‘s agent Lewis Gross were “cordial and productive.” The Leafs are wanting something under $7 million on a long-term deal and Nylander isn’t interested in in a four-year deal at or under $20 million.
There are some teams that are interested in New York Rangers forward Vladislav Namestnikov, who has seen his ice diminish of late.
There have been no contract talks between the Winnipeg Jets and Tyler Myers.
Can see the St. Louis Blues being a stealth team on Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Blues signed Pat Maroon to a one-year, $1.75 deal this past offseason.
“It didn’t go as planned,” he said. “I thought I was going to get a raise — I really did. I thought it was going to be my home-run deal. From my understanding, teams were interested in me, but there were no real offers. Arizona offered me a two-year deal, New Jersey offered me quite a bit more money, but I took a chance on myself. I’m betting on myself, and I’m taking all the risk.”
Oilers being patient with Jesse Puljujarvi
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dreger was on TSN 1260 yesterday morning and was talking about Jesse Puljujarvi and the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are being patient with as things haven’t gone as either side had hoped so far in his young career. Does there come a point where they look to move him?
“Well, that’s not an indictment on the player or the organization – sometimes that stuff just happens, so at what point are you better to use him as a tradeable asset? And at least in the off-season, the message that I got back was – they wouldn’t even discuss it with me. It was like, ‘We’re not trading Puljujarvi.’ They just didn’t want that narrative out there at any point.
“But if go through another season of uncertainty with this young guy, does it not make sense to start talking about it, especially when you have other needs.”
Dreger adds that he’s not saying that now is the time to consider trading him as they are only 10 games into the season.
