On the St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers …
Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic: (mailbag) The Philadelphia Flyers have turned things around, and Wayne Simmonds may not become available at the trade deadline. Would the Flyers want to trade with the Blues anyways after the Brayden Schenn trade? If the Flyers do drop out of the playoff race, GM Ron Hextall may listen to offers on Simmonds.
Jordan Kyrou is not an option for the Blues until his Junior season is over.
On the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger on WGR 550 on the if the Pittsburgh Penguins could be a fit with the Buffalo Sabres for a potential Evander Kane trade.
“Don’t forget, I mean there’s a clear and close relationship between Botterill and Rutherford and the Penguins,” Dreger pointed out. “Last time I talked to Jimmy, which was earlier this week, he still believes in that group. He’s still bought into the idea that they’re going to come alive early in the second half. He knows it’s not about finishing first in the division, first in the conference, winning the Presidents’ Trophy. It’s about making the playoffs, getting on a roll, and then winning a third straight Stanley Cup.
“So if he gets to late January and he’s not feeling the mojo of the Pittsburgh Penguins, I think that he could be interested in doing something far more drastic than what we’ve seen of late.”
