On David Patrnak and the Boston Bruins …
Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: 20-year old David Pastrnak is coming off a 34-goal, 70 point season with the Bruins. He’s a pending RFA and contract talks are about to get under soon with his agent and GM Don Sweeney.
Bridge contract comparable could be Chicago Blackhawks Artemi Panarin two years and $12 million. On a long-term deal, Johnny Gaudreau‘s six-year, $40.5 million contract is a comparable. They don’t have to worry about an offer sheet until July 1st, so the sides have plenty of time.
“100 percent. I obviously love it here. This is where they gave me the opportunity to be in the NHL. It’s not something I was focusing on all season, so I’m not really going to think about it now,” said Pastrnak, when asked about a deal getting done with the Bruins. “It’s not in my hands. It’s in the hands of management and my agent. Both sides have seen these situations a million times, so I’ll let them handle it.”
On Jaromir Jagr and the Florida Panthers …
NHL.com: Jaromir Jagr agent, Petr Svoboda will meet with Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon at the World Championship that gets underway later this week.
“It’s a matter of what’s best for ,” Tallon said. “Jaromir is very honest and a sincere, intelligent guy. The first question is if he wants to play and come back. The second question is whether we’ll be able to come together on a deal that makes sense for both of us.”
Tallon also said that they are interviewing coaching candidates and hopes to name on by the draft.
“We’ve interviewed a half-dozen guys already and there are so many good candidates; it’s exciting to get to know some guys that I normally would not know,” Tallon said. “We’re going to take our time, do it right and want someone that’s going to be a good communicator, is contemporary and someone that works well with young players. Someone who could be patient and teach them as well.”
