On the Boston Bruins …
Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald: The goaltender debate is looking like it will continue. Rask has a save percentage under .900, a 3-8-2 record and a 2.91 GAA. Anton Khudobin is 7-0-2 and playing more of late. Radio talk of trading Rask and going with Khudobin is “wacky.”
“It’s only a matter of what you guys (in the press) write that makes it a controversy,” said Rask. “For us, it’s not a controversy. Obviously people look at salaries — how much I’m making ($7 million) and how much he’s making ($1.2 million) — and make that a big deal. But if he’s playing very, very good and getting the wins, then I can’t complain.”
On the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers …
Jimmy Murphy tweet the other day that the Bruins and Oilers have held some trade talk involving Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. (Kypreos over the weekend … Murphy’s report)
@BeerLeagueHeroe: Brings up the point about that the Bruins are very close to the cap, and the Oilers wouldn’t want to take back a salary like David Backes, Matt Beleskey, Tuukka Rask or David Krejci.
Jimmy Murphy: (respond to above) The Oilers have to take some salary, or the Bruins could look to move salary out in a different deal.
On the New Jersey Devils …
Chris Ryan of NJ.com: If the Devils keep playing like they are, they could be buyers at the trade deadline. They won’t mortgage their future but could look at add a piece or two.
On the Florida Panthers …
Matthew DeFranks of the Sen-Sentinel: Panthers defenseman Alex Petrovic has found himself as a healthy scratch at times this season. The Panthers had protected him for the expansion draft. Petrovic is on a one-year deal and will be a restricted free agent after the season. He could be an attractive trade chip for the Panthers if they decide to go that route with him.
