On the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins management realizes they need to get deeper.

“We have a lot of work to do as an organization, still. We want to become a deeper, more talented team from top to bottom,” said Bruins GM Don Sweeney at his end-of-season press conference in April. “Taking one step forward, in my opinion, is not successful. It’s a good step, but we have work to do in a lot of areas that we want to continue to get better.”

They could use a scoring to-six left winger that has some size to play with David Krejci. They could see what they have in Anders Bjork, Danton Heinen and Jake DeBrusk at training camp and that may lessen the need to go after someone like Avs Gabriel Landeskog.

Could also use a top-four, left handed defenseman that could possibly play with Charlie McAvoy.

Defenseman that could be available this offseason include Sami Vatanen, Matthew Dumba, Jonas Brodin and Tyson Barrie. Vatanen, Dumba and Barrie are all right handed.

It seems like the Bruins are interested in Brodin. One source saying there have been ongoing talks between the Wild and Bruins. Brodin has four years left on his deal at a $4.166 million cap hit. The Wild might be looking to recoup a first round pick – sent theirs to the Coyotes in the Martin Hanzal trade. The Bruins hold the No. 18 pick and have said they are willing to move it.

The Bruins can see what they can get for a Ryan Spooner and a first round pick.

Source saying the Bruins have talked to teams about Spooner, and that there is interest in him.

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: If Anders Bjork, or maybe Jake DeBrusk or Danton Heinen are able to fill the Bruins need for a second line winger, it would allow the Bruins to slot Frank Vatrano and David Backes on the third line where they are better-served.
