On the Boston Bruins …
DJ Bean: Cam Neely said yesterday that the Bruins don’t intend to burn a year of Charlie McAvoy’s entry-level contract this season. (This was before for Torey Krug’s injury. Does that change things?)
On the Arizona Coyotes …
Craig Morgan: Coyotes forward Shane Doan said again yesterday that he hasn’t made a decision on his playing future, and he hasn’t put a timeline on when a final decision will be made.
Craig Morgan: Thinking that defenseman Zbynek Michalek will get into the lineup on Saturday against Wild. It is likely his final game in a Coyotes jersey, possibly his last in the NHL.
On the Colorado Avalanche …
Terry Frei of the Denver Post: The Colorado Avalanche shut Semyon Varlamov down in January to have groin surgery. He’s rehabbing well and looking forward to September. He has two years left on his deal at a $5.9 million cap hit, and could be exposed in he expansion draft. It’s unlikely the Vegas Golden Knights are unlikely to select him though.
“There’s lots of rumors going on right now, in the NHL, about trade this guy, trade that guy, trade everybody,” Varlamov said. “Nobody’s happy about this season. Of course, I’ve heard the rumors too, but it’s just the rumors. I want to play for this team, I want to play for this organization, and I’m really happy about what we’ve done in the past — not in this year, but in past years. So I’m just looking forward to make a fresh start in September.”
