Iain MacIntyre: Sounding like a decision on whether Quinn Hughes will go the college route or not could take another couple weeks. Hughes will be joining Team USA’s camp and will be taking part in a summer showcase in Kamloops, BC.
Would the Bruins be interested in Artemi Panarin?
Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe: By now the Columbus Blue Jackets probably realize that they won’t be able to re-sign winger Artemi Panarin as he’s looking to play in a larger market.
The 26-year old will be a pending UFA after this season and could be looking for a deal in the Nikita Kucherov range – $9.5 million.
Boston isn’t as big as New York, Chicago or LA, but would it be a big enough market for Panarin? They have the salary cap space for him and he could fit beside David Krejci that they’d been looking for.
If the Blue Jackets are looking to move Panarin at the trade deadline it would likely cost a team the usual player, pick, and prospect.
If the Blue Jackets look to move him now and with the ability to negotiate an extension, the return for Columbus would be greater.
What would it cost the Bruins? An offseason deal with an extension may cost the Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk and Brandon Carlo.
