Bruins have the assets and almost the cap space for Panarin

Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe: After trading defenseman Adam McQuaid and his $2.75 million cap hit to the New York Rangers, the Boston Bruins are close to being able to potentially fit in Artemi Panarin’s $6 million salary.

The Bruins also have the assets/prospects that could interest Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekelainen.

Would Paranin be interested in signing long-term with the Bruins, and would the Bruins be willing to offer $8 million to sign him?

The Blue Jackets might want Jake DeBrusk and Ryan Donato included in a Paranin package.

Top 10 players that could be traded

Adam Gretz of NBC Sports: Looking at the top 10 players that could be traded this season.

1 and 2 – Columbus Blue Jackets teammates Artemi Panarin and Sergei Bobrovsky. Both are pending free agents, and it’s not known if either is interested in re-signing. If the Blue Jackets are in a playoff spot, it won’t be easy to move either.

3 and 4 – Ottawa Senators teammates Mark Stone and Matt Duchene. Both are pending free agents, and the rebuild continues.

5 and 6 – New York Rangers teammates Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello. Both are pending free agents. If Hayes was in their long-term plans, wouldn’t they have tried harder to sign him to a long-term deal this offseason instead of the one-year deal? Zuccarello could be interested in remaining in New York.

7 – New York Islanders Brock Nelson. Nelson may be a more logical move than Anders Lee and Jordan Eberle; all will need new contracts. Signed to a one-year deal this past offseason, and like Hughes, if he was in their long-term plans, why not go longer-term.

8 – Detroit Red Wings Gustav Nyquist. It may not make much sense in re-signing Nyquist as they continue to rebuild. They won’t get the return they did for Tomas Tatar, but they should get interest from a team looking for scoring depth.

9 – Vancouver Canucks Alexander Edler. Edler has a no-trade clause which could complicate things. A top-four defenseman could help a contender.

10 – Buffalo Sabres Jeff Skinner. Yes, they traded for him this past offseason a good price, but he’s entering the final year of his contract. If they are not able to get him signed before the deadline, and if they are out of the playoff race, they could get equal trade value back.
