On the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche …
Adrian Dater: Hearing that trade talks between the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche have basically stopped. The Bruins won’t go to the high asking price the Avs want.
On the Colorado Avalanche …
Brian Wilde: “Negotiations with Avs going poorly. They want too much. Sakic needs to remember his team is terrible so not in a position of strength.”
On the Anaheim Ducks …
Lisa Dillman of NHL.com: The Anaheim Ducks don’t have a lot of salary cap space heading into the trade deadline, so don’t expect them to trade for a rental.
GM Bob Murray said on the weekend that he’s looking to make a “hockey trade” but as of now there is nothing imminent.
On the Florida Panthers …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Panthers president of hockey Operations Dale Tallon was on Sportsnet 590 talking about the team leading up to next week’s trade deadline.
Tallon said that if they have a good week, they will take a look at what is available on the trade market. They are not looking to give up anything off their roster. Tallon said they do have some draft picks and prospects, but don’t expect many roster changes.
“So if it’s a deal there that’s a short-term kind of quick fix thing, we might look at that as well. But obviously we prefer to be buying. I think that’s what’s going to happen. If we maintain our play the next four games, we’ll see what’s available there to help maybe our power play – something like that. But it’s got to be a short-term thing because we have good, young players coming in our system and we don’t want to block them either.
“So that’s what we’re looking at. Something just to give us a spark if we need to.”
