On the Buffalo Sabres and Evander Kane …
Paul Hamilton WGR 550: Sabres coach Dan Bylsma on Evander Kane rumors.
“I don’t know where they’re coming from, but I think they’re more in Canada than I get the sense that they’re actually real. A lot of people need to talk and seem to be making it up about that.”
Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News: Evander Kane has one more year left on his contract that carries a $5.25 million salary cap hit. Kane knows his name is in the rumor mill, but he says he’s not worried about it.
“This is a business, first and foremost, no matter what anybody tries to tell you or what the fans may think,” Kane said Monday in KeyBank Center. “It’s a business and business people make business decisions, while the players make the best business decisions for themselves when they have that opportunity. We all know that. For me, it’s nothing I can concern myself too much with.
“I like to think I’m pretty well informed, but at the same time you never know what can happen. I don’t worry about it. I’m very, very, very happy with where I’m at here in Buffalo. And maybe I couldn’t have said that in the past in my career.”
The Sabres aren’t shopping Kane, but were listening when the Canucks called them.
The Sabres were involved in heavy trade talks over the weekend.
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1050 yesterday and was asked if he thinks the Buffalo Sabres will be shopping Evander Kane this season.
“I think that there are other teams, besides Vancouver, that are probably talking to the (Buffalo Sabres) about Evander Kane. Now, whether a deal gets consummated or not, no guarantee of that.
“But I do believe that Buffalo is considering its options on that front, and that Kane is a guy who could conceivably be traded here. But Vancouver basically shut down those talks at some point later last week and they’re not in the running, but I do believe there are probably a couple of other teams that have been talking to Buffalo, and we’ll whether those discussions bear any fruit.”
