On the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators, and New York Rangers …
Dreger summarizing NBC Sports segment …
Darren Dreger: The Canadiens are remaining patient. The asking price for forward Max Pacioretty is very high. There are some who think the Predators will be interested.
Darren Dreger: Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are untouchables in Pittsburgh, and defenseman Kris Letang isn’t far behind them. Penguins source said it is possible but unlikely.
Darren Dreger: Senators GM Pierre Dorion has a trade offer for Mike Hoffman that is future-oriented – draft pick/prospect. That is not something the Senators are interested in at this time, but would it change closer to the trade deadline?
Darren Dreger: There have been no contract extension talks between the NY Rangers and Rick Nash. Nash would like to remain with the Rangers, and they may be interested in keeping him.
On the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens …
Chris Nichols of Fan Rag Sports: Darren Dreger on TSN 1050 was asked about trade talk and started off by talking about the Senators and Mike Hoffman.
“I don’t think that Ottawa has what I would call a concrete offer on Hoffman, but I know that they have at least one offer for future considerations – for draft pick, draft picks, or a prospect and draft picks. I’m assuming it’s coming from a Western Conference team. We’ve speculated on the interest from the St. Louis Blues. I believe that the Edmonton Oilers would have some interest. I don’t know why Calgary wouldn’t have interest.”
Dreger on the Canadiens.
“Well, in the moment, Marc Bergevin is focused on what’s going on in Buffalo at the world juniors. And the Max Pacioretty speculation is going to continue. I’m told that he’s asking for a ton for Pacioretty, and he’s not sold on the fact that he needs to move him just yet.”
